April 11, 2009 - Champaign, IL - Erin Atherton, from Heyworth, IL, is hugged by a friend after running in the inaugural 2009 Illinois Marathon. Atherton was overjoyed as her time qualified her to run in the Boston Marathon, a first in her distance running career. She finished the 26.2 mile race with a time of 3:43:40. "It was a great course," she said, happy she had reached her goal. "The weather was perfect." Saturday's race was her twelfth marathon event.
